We can pack up/unpack just your kitchen and breakables or your entire house. When your boxes come off the moving truck, the move isn’t over either. We are here to take the stress out of unpacking the piles of boxes so that you can quickly and easily start your new chapter in a new home. We will unpack boxes, organize closets, arrange your kitchen, hang pictures, clear away unwanted items for donation or disposal, and help you create a home in no time. Unpacking can take you months to do, but will only take us days to complete.

Floor Plans

Before your move, we work with you to design a floor plan that aligns with your furniture and the space available in your new home. In addition, we will deliver furniture placement instructions to your movers to ensure a seamless move in day.


Expert Packing and Unpacking

Our team of women will meticulously pack your items in boxes and then expertly unpack & organize your belongings in your new home. We ensure that all boxes are packed & unpacked with extreme care, and items are placed where they belong.

Home Organization

Less clutter and better organization has proven to help reduce stress for individuals and family members alike. From kitchens to closets to kids rooms to garages, we organize it all. Our professional organizers will help you implement better systems with specific suggestions for organizational items and storage methods to make your home organization work best for you.


Donation and Disposal

Our motto is “Don’t move what you don’t use!”….but if you do, we’ll help you get it out! Before or after your move, we will coordinate the disposal of your unwanted items, whether it’s to donation or to a dump site.



 
 
 


Interior Design & Decor

Our trusted designers can help you make your new place the home you desire. They’ll work with you to decide what to take and leave before your move and with expert design ideas, can also source furniture and decor for your new place in line with your budget and tastes. We will hang your pictures, assemble furniture, and attend to every detail to make sure you feel at home when you walk in your new front door.


Mover Referrals and Custom Services

If you have a move-related need that is not listed here, we’re happy to help. We partner and work directly with hand-selected moving companies and other services, and are happy to connect you with any service that you require. Need a referral for cleaning service, handyman or dog walker in your new neighborhood? We’ll do our best to be your one stop resource for a smooth transition.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

+ Where do you operate?

In Place serves most of the San Francisco Bay Area, including San Francisco, the East Bay, and the North Bay. If you live in the Bay Area but outside of these locations, please contact us and we'll see what we can do!

+ What happens after I contact you?

  1. One of the owners, Heidi or Dee, will connect with you on the phone for an intro call to discuss your needs. We will listen to your particular situation, get some details from you (i.e., size of home, location, timing, etc.) and provide some initial thoughts and recommendations.
  2. The next step is a home consultation, which we will do either via video call or in person in your home (we will discuss the best option for you on our intro call). After the home consultation, we will send a pricing estimate and timeline proposal based on the information gathered.
  3. If you move forward with our services, we will then schedule your pack-up and/or move-in day(s) with members from our team of home experts. We will also continue to be there with you every step of the way, until everything in your home is In Place.

+ How much does your service cost?

No two moves are the same, which means that our costs are dependent on several factors including size of the home, services needed, etc. Please contact us to discuss your needs, we’ll be happy to evaluate your situation and provide pricing.

+ Is In Place the same as a moving company?

We are not direct providers of moving trucks and loading/unloading services, but we do partner with a fully vetted and hand-selected group of residential moving companies. We're happy to put you in touch with them and any other services you may require. If you choose to work with one of our moving partners, we will work directly with them to ensure a seamless experience for the entirety of your moving experience. Additionally, if you have a moving company you would like to use that is not one of our partners, we are happy to work with them as well.

+ Are you full service only or can I use parts of your services?

We are primarily full-service pack-up and move-in specialists, providing a customized plan and the necessary services to get you out of your old home and settled into your new home. However, we do work with our clients on their particular needs and will certainly accommodate partial services. For example, if you have more unique circumstances not related to moving, such as remodeling, renovating, etc., we can provide ad hoc services on a case by case basis. Give us a call to discuss your needs, and if for any reason we cannot accommodate, we will provide you with a recommendation for another path!

+ Can you help realtors in preparing a home for staging?

Yes, we have worked with various stagers who value our service. We help realtors get the home on the market faster.

+ Do I need to be home when your team is there?

Generally speaking, no, you do not need to be home when we provide our services. We’ve even had clients go on vacation while we packed, unpacked, and organized their home! If you do not wish to be home for some or all of the move in, we will work with you in advance to make sure our team knows every detail about your move plan. If you are home, we will provide you a direct point of contact for any questions, directions, etc. you may have.

+ Do you have insurance?

Yes, In Place is fully insured to cover any unforeseen accidents. However, we have never had to file a claim.

+ Do you recycle materials?

Yes, absolutely. We are a green business that believes in always recycling cardboard boxes, paper, etc. We also encourage our clients to consider donating or consigning items that they no longer need.
